AT&T tournament returns to Pebbe Beach as U.S. Open ‘test’

The AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, which this year serves as a precursor to the U.S. Open, will be held Feb. 8-14 at Pebble Beach Golf Links, Spyglass Hill Golf Course and Monterey Peninsula Country Club.
Dustin Johnson is defending titlist of the $6.2 million, 72-hole PGA Tour event, which begins Thursday, Feb. 10 at all three courses. Monterey Peninsula Country Club replaces Poppy Hills in the course rotation. As per tradition, the final round will be held Sunday, Feb. 14 at Pebble Beach. The winner will earn $1.16 million.

The week began with first of three consecutive days of practice rounds on Monday, Feb. 8. Various charity events are also scheduled early in the week.

The pro field includes: Jim Furyk, Phil Mickelson, Adam Scott, Sergio Garcia, Padraig Harrington, Vijay Singh, Davis Love, Mike Weir, Luke Donald, John Daly and Retief Goosen.

The celebrity field includes: former soccer star Brandi Chastain, actors Greg Kinnear, Chris O’Donnell and Don Cheadle, musicians Kenny G and Clay Walker and pro surfer Kelly Slater and comedians Bill Murray and George Lopez.

Here’s a schedule of events:

* Practice rounds: 8 a.m. Monday, Feb. 8 through Wednesday Feb. 10, all three golf courses;
* Birdies for Charity Shoot-Out: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, Pebble Beach;
* 3M Celebrity Challenge: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, Pebble Beach;
* First three rounds: Start, 8 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, through Saturday, Feb. 13, all three courses;
* Final round: Sunday, 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Pebble Beach.
