A Cheers Bar (Brophy's Tavern) In Carmel-By-The-Sea

With the exception of when international events are in town, it's difficult to find something to eat on weeknights past 9-10 p.m. in Carmel.
I was visiting the peninsula earlier this week and returned to my hotel, the Carmel Sands Lodge, from Monterey at about 10:30 p.m. As expected, every restaurant was closed. I wanted have a drink to toast my deceased father's memory on his 79th birthday.
Driving back to my hotel, I came upon this little bar, Brophy's Tavern, near San Carlos and 4th Street. It's under new ownership. For now, food is only served until 10 p.m., but the bar is open until midnight. (My dinner was two drafts and pretzels.)
Turns out the place is under new ownership for the second time in a year or so. Locals Joseph and Lynn Cingari have purchased the pub an

The jovial bartender told me a new full menu will soon be introduced. It's a cool, little spot on the north end of downtown, away from Ocean Ave., and likely a great place to hear what locals are talking about. There's a small "L" shaped bar and maybe 10 tables and four big screen (but not-too-big) TVs.
There's a full bar and a half-dozen beers on tap, including the delightful Marine Ale Fat Lip, and the place is clean. It'll likely be a regular stop from now on.
