English Ales Brewery: Marina's Oasis For All That Ales Ya On The Monterey Peninsula

English Ales Brewery has been around since 2000, but I've only discovered its great beer on several recent trips to the Monterey Peninsula.
While staying in Carmel and Pacific Grove, I've frequented the new, neighborhood place, Brophy's on 4th and San Carlos. It serves my favorite English Ales Brewery choice, Ramsay's Fat Lip. It's named after the brewery's head brew master, Ramsay Borthwick.
And its description: "A delicious Scotch Amber Ale with a smooth, rich flavor inspired by our brewer's clumsiness" is perfect.
On another recent occasion, the brewery served its beer during The Quail, the great motorsports day that's now an integral part of the Concours d'Elegance. And it's also a staple at other Laguna Seca Mazda Raceway events.
Most recently, I stopped at the brewery itself for lunch on Labor Day at around 1 p.m. on the way home to Sacramento after a week covering
the Wal-Mart First Tee Open at Pebble Beach.
The brewery has its own adjacent and cool little lunch spot, and a good-spirited crowd on the day I visited kept the place lively. The food is fresh, reasonably priced and it's all complemented by some of the finest microbrewery beer I've had in a quite awhile.
Not every beer was available on the day I visited, which was a good thing considering I was driving. But Dragon Slayer India Pale Ale to Monterey Bay Wheat and Black Hound Stout to Monk's Brown Ale (and a half-dozen other varieties) it's all inviting.
The brewery's motto: "The principal focus of English Ales Brewery is to produce quality British beers for distribution in the hospitality industry."
Count me in, please.
