Adpot A Pet, Get A Free Night's Stay At Carmel's Lincoln Green Inn

Angela McKee and Tom Hayes purchased the historic Lincoln Green Inn in Carmel last May. The quaint location near Carmel State Beach is comprised of four garden guest cottages and beautiful landscaping.

The Inn is now more than 80 years old. But the new owners' infusion of enthusiasm and energy is easy to observe via the renovated rooms and revitalized gardens.

But in mid-November, the new owners did something particularly unique.

Combining their appreciation for animals (the Inn is pet-friendly) with a good cuase, the owners erected a sizable sleigh and whimsical-looking reindeer near the inn's main entrance along with some unique "gifts."

Working with the local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (S.P.C.A.), the inn owners have pictures in the sleigh of available animals to adopt — cats and dogs, a horse and even a rabbit.

The idea is simple: If someone adopts an animal via the Inn and if all of the SPCA paperwork is approved, the Lincoln Green Inn proprietors will offer the animal's new owner a free night's stay at the inn.

"There are no strings attached," said Hayes. "Really."
